The Sporting Rifle Competition                                      Previous Results

The aim of this competition is to test the ability of the individuals to read the general weather conditions and differing aiming points in order to gain the maximum score.

General Outline

In the spirit of the name of the comp., this will be a true Sporting competition with an ethos that tries to follow some kind of sporting rationale, at least as close as can be achieved on a gallery range.

Requirements

The competition is to be shot using a calibre that might be used for shooting both vermin and larger game e.g. .243, 7mm, .308 etc. This means that small calibres (e.g. .223) are not permitted for larger game (deer) and will not qualify.  30 Rounds Required.

Competition Rules

  • The event will be held on a gallery range of the clubs choosing.

  • Rifles may be 'scoped but if you want to use iron sights then feel free to do so.

  • Two-point slings may be used, but should remain attached at all times.

  • Targets may be ‘Hare’ , ‘Boar’ , 'Fox' and/or ‘Deer’ archery targets (& PL7 sighters).

  • Sighters will be individually marked back, and are not convertible.

  • All timed target exposures are to be controlled from the butts.

  • All Scoring will take place in the butts.

  • No competitor will be informed of his/her score until the end of their detail.

  • In the event of additional rounds found on a competitors target the highest scoring round will be discarded.

  • Infringements of safety will result in disqualification from the competition.

  • Range discipline will be maintained at all times under the direct control of the RCO.

  • The decision of the Match Director is final.
